CINCINNATI – A fatal shooting on Millvale Court has left one woman dead and another in custody, as investigators continue piecing together the events that turned a heated argument into a deadly encounter.

According to the Cincinnati Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting late Sunday night in the Millvale neighborhood. When they arrived, they discovered 29-year-old Taralynn Bower suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures, but Bower was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives quickly identified the suspected shooter as 25-year-old Marshee Luther, Bower’s ex-girlfriend. Investigators determined that the two women became involved in a verbal altercation that escalated into violence. Police say Bower was unarmed when Luther allegedly produced a firearm and opened fire.

Suspect Arrested

Luther was taken into custody without incident a short time later. Authorities have confirmed that she faces charges in connection with the deadly shooting, though the exact charges are expected to be finalized after review by the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police stated that evidence collected at the scene, along with witness interviews, helped solidify Luther’s involvement. The firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was also recovered.

Community Impact

The deadly altercation has sent shockwaves through the Millvale neighborhood. Neighbors described hearing shouting before the gunfire erupted, followed by a heavy police presence that left the area on edge.

“This is heartbreaking,” one resident said. “We’ve seen arguments here before, but to think it ended in someone losing their life—it’s devastating.”

Friends and family members of Bower are mourning her sudden loss, describing her as a kind-hearted woman whose life ended far too soon. A memorial with flowers and candles has already begun forming near Millvale Court, as loved ones come together to grieve.

Ongoing Investigation

The Cincinnati Police Department has assured the public that this appears to be an isolated incident stemming from a domestic dispute, and there is no ongoing threat to the community. Detectives continue to gather evidence and interview additional witnesses to build a complete timeline of the events.

“This tragic incident underscores how quickly arguments can escalate into deadly violence when firearms are involved,” a department spokesperson said. “We are committed to seeking justice for Taralynn Bower and her family.”

Luther remains in custody as the case moves forward through the court system.
