HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A tragic crash on the Grand Parkway (SH-99) left one person dead after a vehicle struck a guardrail and burst into flames, forcing authorities to shut down all westbound lanes of the busy roadway.
The accident occurred in the 6600 block of SH-99, where deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) and Precinct 4 Constable’s Office responded to the scene. According to officials, the vehicle left the roadway, collided with a guardrail, and quickly caught fire. Despite emergency crews arriving within minutes, the driver did not survive.
The Spring Fire Department also responded to the crash, battling the flames and assisting deputies as they worked to secure the scene. Traffic investigators spent hours examining the wreckage and documenting evidence.
Traffic Disruption for Commuters
All westbound lanes of SH-99 were shut down following the accident, creating heavy delays for evening commuters. Authorities urged drivers to seek alternate routes and warned that congestion in the area would continue until the scene could be cleared.
