UNION, Miss. — The Union community is gathering to honor the life of Mr. Jamey Lanier, 59, of Little Rock, Mississippi, who passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, September 25, 2025. Known for his deep love of family, strong faith, and lifelong devotion to Alabama football, Jamey’s passing leaves behind a legacy of warmth, loyalty, and faithfulness that touched all who knew him.
Memorial Services
A celebration of Jamey’s life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery. The service will be officiated by Bro. Andrew Black, Bro. Matthew Hitt, and Dr. Dan Lanier, who will lead family and friends in honoring his memory.
Visitation will take place at the church from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., offering loved ones a chance to gather, share memories, and extend support to the family before the service.
A Life Rooted in Faith and Community
Born and raised in Mississippi, Jamey graduated from Beulah Hubbard High School, where he built lasting friendships and developed a love for community that he carried throughout his life.
He worked with Waters International, where colleagues remember him as hardworking, dependable, and always willing to lend a hand. Beyond his professional life, Jamey’s heart was firmly rooted in his faith. He was a proud member of Hopewell Baptist Church, where he found strength, fellowship, and purpose.
A Passion for Crimson Tide
Friends and family fondly recall Jamey’s unwavering passion for Alabama Crimson Tide football. Saturdays in the fall were special to him, and he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his team. His enthusiasm for the game brought joy and camaraderie to many gatherings, turning simple watch parties into cherished traditions.
Family and Loved Ones
Jamey’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his loving brothers: Danny Lanier (Janet), Mark Lanier (Dannette), and Wayne Lanier (Karen); and sisters: Dawn Jenkins and Alice Jones. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, who will carry forward his humor, kindness, and wisdom in their hearts.
Jamey was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Wil “Pete” Lanier and Willa Estes, as well as his stepfather, Hamp Estes. His reunion with them in eternal rest brings comfort to those mourning his absence here.
