The Ashland community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Allen M. Madison, a 19-year-old who tragically died in a two-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning in the Township of Chelsea, Taylor County.
According to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at about 5:41 a.m. on State Highway 13 near Alfalfa Avenue. Authorities say Madison was driving a 2010 red Ford Fusion when the vehicle crossed the centerline into the northbound lane, colliding head-on with a semi-tractor trailer.
The violent impact caused both vehicles to catch fire. Emergency responders — including deputies, the Medford Fire Department, Taylor County First Responders, and Taylor County Ambulance crews — rushed to the scene. Despite their efforts, Madison’s car was fully engulfed in flames. He was removed from the vehicle but sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.
The semi driver survived the crash and received medical attention. Officials reported no serious injuries. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
A Promising Life Cut Short
Allen Madison lived in Ashland, Wisconsin, where he was known as a kind, good-natured young man with a deep love for family and the outdoors. Friends describe him as someone who could brighten any room, with a smile that left a lasting impression.
“Allen was just getting started in life. To lose him this way is devastating,” said one family friend. “He had so much potential and a heart of gold.”
Investigation Underway
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash and what may have led Madison’s vehicle to veer into the opposite lane. Officials have not yet determined if weather, road conditions, or other factors played a role.
The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office said more details will be released as the investigation continues.
