MACON, Ga. — October 19, 2025 — A heartbreaking tragedy has struck the city of Macon as three young men lost their lives in a triple fatal shooting late Saturday night on Williams Street, leaving families devastated and a community searching for answers.

According to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones, the victims have been identified as 21-year-old Brandon Thomas and 27-year-old Quantayris Townsend, who were brothers, along with a third man whose identity has not yet been officially confirmed. The third victim is currently listed as John Doe, pending notification of next of kin.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to the 1100 block of Williams Street around 10:25 p.m. after 911 received calls reporting a shooting. When officers arrived, they discovered a chaotic and tragic scene. One man, later identified as Townsend, had already been transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Two additional victims, including Thomas, were found deceased at the scene.

“This is heartbreaking,” Coroner Jones said in a statement early Sunday morning. “Anytime you have multiple lives lost like this — and especially when two of them are brothers — it’s just devastating. The family is going through something no one should ever have to endure.”

Detectives from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Unit are leading the investigation. While no arrests have been made, authorities are working diligently to piece together what led to the deadly encounter. Multiple shell casings were recovered at the scene, and investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses in hopes of identifying suspects or vehicles connected to the crime.

At this stage, no motive has been confirmed, and police have not ruled out any possibilities. Residents in the area reported hearing several gunshots followed by the sound of a car speeding away.

The deaths of Thomas and Townsend have left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew them. Friends, neighbors, and loved ones describe the brothers as kind-hearted, respectful, and inseparable. “They were always together,” said one neighbor. “You never saw one without the other. They looked out for everyone around here — it’s unreal to think they’re both gone.”

Both brothers were known in the community for their strong family bonds and their positive presence. Friends have already begun organizing candlelight vigils and memorials to honor their lives and to show support for their grieving family.

“This is not just a loss for one family — it’s a loss for the entire Macon community,” said a local pastor who has worked with families affected by gun violence. “We’re tired of seeing our young men die like this. We need to come together, not just in grief, but in action and compassion.”

As of Sunday, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office continues to ask anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. Tips can be submitted by contacting investigators at 478-751-7500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME (1-877-682-7463). Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward.

This senseless act of violence has shaken Macon to its core, marking one of the most tragic nights in recent memory. For now, friends, family, and neighbors cling to memories of the brothers and the hope that justice will soon be served.

As the investigation continues, the community stands united in mourning — lighting candles, sharing stories, and vowing to remember Brandon Thomas and Quantayris Townsend not for the tragedy that took their lives, but for the love, laughter, and spirit they brought to everyone who knew them.
