TURTLEFORD, SK — A heartbreaking tragedy has shaken the communities of northern Saskatchewan after three men were found deceased at a rural property northwest of Turtleford on November 5, 2025. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have confirmed that 25-year-old Madison Paddy-Jimmy, of Thunderchild First Nation, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the passing of 28-year-old Tonio Cantell, from Island Lake First Nation.

Around 12:30 p.m., Turtleford RCMP received a report of multiple injured individuals at a rural property. When officers arrived, they discovered three men with critical injuries. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts, all three were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators determined that each of the victims had sustained gunshot wounds, confirming that all three men were victims of homicide. Multiple firearms were recovered from the scene as evidence.

Madison Paddy-Jimmy was located and arrested later that day in Turtleford. She is charged under Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada and made her first appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court on November 6, 2025.

RCMP have identified one of the other victims as a 46-year-old man from Turtleford, while the third individual is being identified in cooperation with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service. Out of respect for privacy and investigative protocols, their names have not been released publicly. Families of the victims have been notified, and Victim Services are offering support during this time of profound loss.

“This tragic event has deeply impacted multiple families and communities,” an RCMP spokesperson said. “Our investigators remain fully committed to uncovering the circumstances surrounding this case and ensuring that justice is served.”

The ongoing investigation involves several specialized units, including the North Battleford and Saskatoon Forensic Identification Sections, the North Battleford General Investigation Section, the Turtleford Detachment, and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.

Both Island Lake First Nation and Thunderchild First Nation have expressed deep sorrow over the loss of their members. Friends describe Tonio Cantell as compassionate, hardworking, and deeply loved by his family and community — a life remembered for his warmth and loyalty.

Authorities have confirmed that there is no further threat to public safety and that all suspects are accounted for.
