WINNIE, TX — The Southeast Texas community is mourning the loss of Brian Lee Johnson, 63, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. Known for his kindness, humor, and unwavering love for family, Brian’s passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born on November 18, 1961, in Liberty, Texas, to Billie Alice Welch and Monroe Eugene Johnson, Brian spent his early years in Blanco, Texas, before returning later in life to China, Texas, where he built a life filled with love, laughter, and hard work. He was a proud graduate of Hardin Jefferson High School, Class of 1980, and his life reflected the strong values of dedication, generosity, and community that he carried from his youth.
Brian’s life was one of simple joys and heartfelt connections. He had a deep passion for team roping, rodeos, fishing, and golf, but his greatest love was always for the people around him. Whether he was tending to his horses or sharing one of his legendary stories around town, Brian had a gift for making others feel seen, valued, and uplifted. He was known as the man who could fix anything — from a broken saddle to a heavy heart — and never hesitated to lend a helping hand when someone needed it.
Those who knew Brian will remember his warm smile, his adventurous spirit, and the way he cherished every moment spent with his family and friends. His love for the outdoors, his humor, and his cowboy heart defined him, but it was his selflessness that made him unforgettable.
Brian is survived by his loving wife, Sandy Johnson; his children, Brandon Lee Johnson and wife Marlee, and Shelby Lee Singh and husband Nathan; and his cherished grandchildren, Paxton Wade, Parker Lee, and Jennings Lee, who were the pride and joy of his life. He also leaves behind his brother, Mike Johnson, and wife Mollie; his best friend, Greg Denton, and wife Danna; and many nieces and nephews, including Amanda, Colt, Chris, Korey, and Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Billie Welch Johnson and Eugene Johnson, whose legacy of love and strength he carried throughout his life.
Family and friends are invited to a gathering of remembrance on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive, Winnie, Texas. His cremation arrangements were entrusted to Broussard’s Crematorium in Beaumont.
As loved ones come together to celebrate Brian’s remarkable life, they remember a man whose laughter filled every room, whose hands were always ready to help, and whose heart was as vast and steady as the Texas sky.
In loving memory of Brian Lee Johnson — may his spirit ride freely, his stories live on, and his legacy continue to shine in the lives he touched.
