Beloved Carthage Resident Justin Sims Passes Away After Brave Battle with Cancer
CARTHAGE, MISSISSIPPI — July 3 2025 — The Carthage community is deeply saddened by the passing of Justin Sims, a cherished friend, colleague, and local figure known for his honesty and unwavering loyalty. Sims died on July 2, 2025, after courageously battling cancer, leaving behind a legacy of friendship and resilience that touched many lives.
A longtime resident of Carthage, Sims was respected not only for his straightforward nature but also for the genuine care he showed those around him. Friends remember him as a man who always spoke his mind, whether people agreed or not, and as someone whose friendship was steadfast through both joyous and challenging times.
One close friend recalled their years together, sharing stories of laughter, tears, and shared struggles — especially during their time working together and through Sims’s fight with cancer. “Now you can rest, brother. No more pain or worries,” the friend said, expressing the deep bond they shared.
Earlier this year, the Carthage community came together to support Sims during his cancer treatment through benefit events and heartfelt outreach. Despite the challenges of his illness, Sims remained connected to his friends and family, demonstrating strength and courage until the end.
