Woman Shot in the Head on Fourth of July in Shively, Kentucky: Investigation Underway

 

 

 

LOUISVILLE, KY — July 4, 2025 — A night meant for celebration turned violent in Shively, Kentucky, when a woman was shot in the head during a reported shooting on Rockford Lane late Friday night, July 4th.

According to the Shively Police Department, officers responded around 10:30 p.m. to reports of gunfire in the 1800 block of Rockford Lane. Upon arrival, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The scene was quickly secured as emergency medical services arrived to administer care and rush the victim to the hospital.

Authorities have yet to release the identity of the woman, and her connection to the area remains unclear.

Residents in Shock as Police Search for Answers

The shooting occurred just as many families and neighbors were wrapping up Independence Day festivities. Fireworks were still popping in the sky when the sound of gunfire erupted, creating confusion and fear among local residents.

One witness, who lives just a block from the scene, said, “We thought it was fireworks at first. But when we saw the police cars and flashing lights, we knew something was terribly wrong.”

Victim Expected to Recover

While details about the shooting remain limited, Shively Police confirmed that the woman’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. She is currently being treated at a local hospital and is expected to survive, which brings some relief to a shaken community.

Investigators believe the shooting was not a targeted attack, though they are still working to determine how the incident unfolded. No suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made as of Saturday morning.
