Las Vegas, NV — July 9, 2025 — A shooting incident in the Southwest Valley area of Las Vegas around 12:38 a.m. early Wednesday morning has left one person injured and the community shaken as police work to determine the circumstances behind the violence.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) responded promptly after receiving emergency calls reporting gunfire in a residential neighborhood near Decatur Boulevard and Warm Springs Road. Upon arrival, officers found a victim suffering from gunshot wounds who was immediately transported to University Medical Center, the city’s primary trauma hospital. The victim’s condition remains undisclosed at this time.
Residents in the area were startled awake by multiple gunshots, describing the scene as chaotic with people rushing to safety and police vehicles arriving quickly. “It sounded like rapid gunfire, and everyone was scared,” said Angela Martinez, who lives nearby. “It’s frightening to know this happened so close to home.”
