BOONVILLE, MO — July 24, 2025
A manhunt is underway in Boonville after police responded to reports of a gunshot victim and discovered a man bleeding inside a vehicle near the intersection of Main Street and High Street Thursday morning.
According to the Boonville Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 10:30 AM following a call about a shooting victim. When they arrived on the scene, they found a male victim inside his vehicle, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Authorities say the victim had driven himself to the location after being shot in Howard County.
Emergency medical services responded immediately, and the victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. His identity and current condition have not been publicly released.
Police quickly gathered a description of the suspect, who remains at large. He is described as a Black male last seen wearing black shorts, a black T-shirt, and a silver object around his waist. The suspect was reportedly last seen around 10:45 AM in the vicinity of Haller Street and Leroy Street, just blocks from where the victim was found.
Investigators emphasized that the shooting was not random, and there is currently no evidence to suggest the suspect poses a broader threat to the public. Still, law enforcement urges residents to remain vigilant, warning that the suspect is armed and dangerous.
“We are actively searching for this individual and ask the public to avoid the area if possible,” the department stated. “If you see someone matching the suspect’s description, do not approach. Please call 911 or contact the Boonville Police Department directly at (660) 882-2727.”
Authorities are canvassing the area with assistance from nearby agencies and K-9 units. The investigation remains ongoing, and more details will be released as they become available.
