In Loving Memory of Cynthia “Cindy” LeeAnne Self (1973–2025)
With profound sadness and heartfelt love, we announce the passing of Cynthia “Cindy” LeeAnne Self, age 52, of Cullman, Alabama, who left this world on July 29, 2025. A devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and faithful friend, Cindy’s beautiful spirit, compassion, and enduring warmth will be remembered by all who were fortunate to know her.
Cindy was born on March 2, 1973, to Louise and Ronald Powell, both of whom preceded her in death. She grew up surrounded by family and faith and carried those values into every role she played in life—wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.
A Life Devoted to Family
Married to her husband Shawn Self for nearly 36 years, Cindy shared a remarkable bond built on trust, partnership, and unconditional love. Together they raised three sons: Tyler, Austin, and Ricky Self, each of whom brought her immeasurable pride and joy. Her greatest delight came with the arrival of her beloved grandson, Everett Self, who quickly became the light of her life.
Cindy is also survived by her dear siblings: Kaye Cullen, Mark Johnson, Van Johnson, and Jerme Powell. She was a constant presence in their lives, offering support, laughter, and unwavering love.
A Spirit at Peace Near the Water
Cindy found peace and serenity near any body of water—whether it was a quiet lake or the rhythmic crashing of waves on a beach. Fishing was her favorite pastime, offering both relaxation and adventure, and she often said it was when she felt closest to herself and the world around her.
She brought joy, humor, and a generous heart into every space she entered. Her love was genuine and deep, extending beyond her family to friends, neighbors, and strangers alike. Cindy’s heart was not only big—it was selfless, even in her passing. She was an honored organ donor, and her final act of kindness will continue to bring life and healing to others in need. The family finds comfort knowing she continues to help others, even in death.
