MILWAUKEE, WI — A disturbing and heartbreaking case has rocked the Milwaukee community after a young woman in her 20s was found with a fatal gunshot wound to the head late Wednesday night on the city’s northwest side.
According to Milwaukee police, the woman was dropped off by an unidentified individual around the 3100 block of West Fairmount Avenue. Emergency crews responded quickly and attempted CPR at the scene, but the victim was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.
Investigators say the woman appeared to have been shot elsewhere before being transported and left on the sidewalk. Authorities have not yet released her name, pending notification of next of kin.
The Milwaukee Police Department has launched a full-scale homicide investigation and is now working to determine the identity of the person or persons who dropped her off, as well as the circumstances that led to the shooting. Detectives are canvassing the area for surveillance footage and potential witnesses.
Neighbors expressed deep concern following the news. “It’s terrifying and heartbreaking,” said one resident who lives near the scene. “To think someone could just drop her off like that and drive away… it’s cruel.”
The case adds to a string of recent violent incidents in the city, prompting renewed calls for community vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement.
