CHARLOTTE, NC — Carolina Panthers star cornerback Jaycee Horn was involved in a car accident early Wednesday morning while driving to the team’s facility, according to official team sources. While the incident did not result in serious injuries, Horn is being held out of practice today for precautionary reasons as he undergoes further medical evaluation.
The Panthers released a statement shortly after news of the crash emerged:
“Jaycee Horn was involved in a car accident this morning on his way to work. Fortunately, he is okay. Our medical team is evaluating him, and as a precaution, he will not practice today.”
Horn, 24, has faced multiple injury setbacks since being drafted eighth overall by Carolina in 2021. His presence this offseason had given coaches and fans hope for a major defensive resurgence. The team is taking no risks with his health, especially with the regular season fast approaching.
While details surrounding the accident remain limited, sources confirm Horn did not require hospitalization and was conscious and responsive at the scene. It is not yet clear if other vehicles were involved.
Panthers head coach Dave Canales is expected to address the situation during a media briefing following today’s practice.
Jaycee Horn has been a cornerstone of Carolina’s secondary when healthy, and the organization is hopeful that today’s incident won’t result in a long-term setback.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned for updates.
