Augusta, GA — Authorities have identified and arrested 16-year-old Tyric Kendarius Logan in connection with a fatal shooting at Augusta Mall that left 17-year-old Devon Donelle McClain dead Tuesday afternoon.
The Incident
Deputies from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded shortly after 2:00 p.m. to reports of gunfire inside the mall. Upon arrival, they located McClain suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite emergency medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at 2:40 p.m. at Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center.
Witnesses described panic inside the shopping center as bystanders ran for cover. Law enforcement quickly secured the scene to prevent further violence.
The Suspect
Logan, a resident of Silver Street in Augusta, was detained at the scene and transported to the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division. He is facing charges of murder and will be prosecuted as an adult, investigators confirmed.
Authorities also noted that Logan was the same teen listed as a runaway in August, when his photo was distributed on a flyer by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
Ongoing Investigation
Detectives have identified and interviewed additional persons of interest but have not announced any further arrests. Officials say they are still working to determine what led to the deadly encounter and whether the shooting was premeditated or sparked by a dispute.
