INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Indianapolis authorities are investigating a violent shooting that left three people injured near the Cross Creek Center on Georgetown Road late Saturday night. The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m., roughly 4.5 miles from another mass shooting that took place earlier in the day.
Chaos Erupts at Shopping Plaza
According to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police (IMPD), officers responding to the scene found three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were immediately transported to nearby hospitals, though their current conditions have not been publicly disclosed.
Video footage captured at the scene depicts the chaos that unfolded as officers navigated a crowded plaza with firearms drawn. Dozens of bystanders were present, and the area was described as “disorderly and tense.”
Local resident Muke Starks, who shared video footage with IndyStar, recounted the frightening moments. “We had just come from the car show at the fairgrounds,” Starks said. “Everybody was supposed to go to All Stars (Sports Lounge & Grill), and while we were driving in, we saw the shooting. I saw a man drop to the ground, and police started running with their guns.”
Suspect in Custody
Following the incident, police arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with the shooting. Court documents state that the suspect was involved in a disturbance near a liquor store adjacent to the plaza. Officers allege that a car pulled up near a large crowd, shots were fired, and the vehicle fled before crashing.
The suspect was subsequently charged with multiple offenses, including resisting law enforcement, criminal recklessness, and possession of a machine gun. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and they are working to determine any additional individuals involved in the incident.
