SHREVEPORT, La. — September 25, 2025 — The Shreveport Police Department says it has made “significant progress” in the investigation into Saturday morning’s mass shooting in the Allendale neighborhood that left two men dead and six others wounded.
The victims who lost their lives have been identified as 42-year-old Johnny Ray Robinson and 41-year-old Johnathan Greene, both remembered by family and friends as loving, hardworking men taken far too soon.
Chaos in the Early Morning Hours
The gunfire erupted around 2 a.m. on September 20, as dozens gathered in the Allendale community. Witnesses described a sudden burst of shots that sent people running for safety.
Police and emergency responders rushed to the scene, where they discovered multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Robinson and Greene were pronounced dead, while six other individuals — whose names have not been released — were transported to area hospitals. Officials say the injured victims are expected to recover.
Investigators Following Strong Leads
On Wednesday, Shreveport Police announced that detectives have identified persons of interest and are actively pursuing leads. While officials have not disclosed details about potential suspects or motives, they stressed that the case is moving forward quickly.
“This was a senseless act of violence that has left families grieving and a community shaken,” a police spokesperson said. “We are determined to find those responsible and bring them to justice.”
Authorities are working closely with the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office as they build their case.
Families and Community in Mourning
The deaths of Robinson and Greene have devastated their families and the broader Shreveport community. Loved ones describe them as men with big hearts, known for their laughter and dedication to their families.
Candlelight vigils have been held in Allendale, with neighbors lighting candles, sharing prayers, and demanding peace.
“We’ve lost too many lives to gun violence,” one community member said at a vigil. “Our city cannot continue down this path. Something has to change.”
Appeal for Public Assistance
Detectives are urging anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. Witnesses or residents with knowledge about the incident can submit tips anonymously through Caddo Crime Stoppers. A cash reward may be available for information that leads to an arrest.
Looking Ahead
As police continue their investigation, community leaders and faith organizations are calling for unity and long-term solutions to reduce violence in Shreveport. They say Saturday’s shooting highlights the urgent need for outreach, resources, and stronger neighborhood engagement.
For now, the focus remains on justice for Johnny Ray Robinson and Johnathan Greene, and on healing a community left shaken by tragedy.
