ODESSA, Texas — A tragic crash in Odessa has claimed the life of a 9-year-old boy, leaving the community heartbroken and two drivers hospitalized with injuries. The fatal collision occurred Thursday morning at the intersection of 87th Street and East Loop 338, according to the Odessa Police Department (OPD).
The Collision
At approximately 7:09 a.m. on September 25, 2025, officers responded to reports of a major crash. Investigators determined that a black Ford Maverick pickup, driven by 25-year-old Adrian Colon, was traveling southbound on East Loop 338 when the collision occurred.
Police say a silver Mitsubishi Outlander, driven by 30-year-old Jasmine Ruvalcaba, was headed northbound on East Loop 338 when Ruvalcaba attempted to make a left turn onto 87th Street. The Ford pickup struck the Mitsubishi, causing the SUV to spin out and crash into a nearby concrete light pole base.
Victim Identified
A 9-year-old male passenger riding in the Mitsubishi was critically injured in the crash. He was rushed to a local hospital, where medical personnel later pronounced him deceased. Authorities have confirmed that his next of kin have been notified.
Both drivers, Colon and Ruvalcaba, were also transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
