BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — A Bloomington man who fought for his life following a crash on the city’s west side has tragically died. Authorities confirmed that 22-year-old Travis Floyd passed away days after the wreck, succumbing to severe injuries despite intensive medical care.
McLean County Coroner Kathleen Yoder reported that Floyd was pronounced dead at 9:24 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, at Carle BroMenn Medical Center. A preliminary autopsy determined he died from head injuries he sustained as a front-seat passenger in the collision.
The Crash
The incident happened early on Saturday, September 20. Bloomington police said officers were called to the 1000 block of Hinshaw Avenue around 5:15 a.m. after reports of a serious crash.
According to investigators, the vehicle was heading north when, for unknown reasons, it veered off the roadway and struck a utility pole.
Emergency Response
First responders rushed to the scene, where Floyd was found with what officials described as “potentially life-threatening” injuries. He was transported to a local hospital and placed under intensive care.
For several days, Floyd battled his injuries in the hospital. Sadly, despite medical efforts, his condition worsened, and he died on Wednesday morning.
