MILWAUKEE, WI — Authorities have charged 19-year-old Rae’Jianna Hall in connection with the fatal stabbing of her cousin, 18-year-old Jaquveon Wright, following a heated dispute reportedly sparked by a disagreement over a job at Taco Bell. The shocking incident occurred on September 29 inside the family’s shared duplex in Milwaukee.
According to the criminal complaint, both Hall and Wright lived together with family members and Wright’s girlfriend. That afternoon, police were dispatched to the residence after Hall called 911, claiming that Wright was angry after she spit on him and that he had “hit her.” Hall told dispatchers she acted in self-defense, admitting to stabbing her cousin.
When officers arrived, they found Wright outside the home, suffering from a stab wound to the neck. Despite emergency efforts to save him, Wright was pronounced dead at the scene.
During her police interview, Hall said the two had been arguing earlier that day, and that she was upset Wright wouldn’t help her get a job at the Taco Bell where he worked. She admitted to pepper-spraying Wright and said the two separated for a short time before another confrontation began in her room.
Hall claimed that during the second altercation, she swung a knife at Wright, cutting his shirt and accidentally cutting her own leg before ultimately stabbing him in the neck. She told police she “knew she could have killed him” but said that was not her intention, describing herself as “scared” and uncertain whether the stabbing was accidental or deliberate.
Police say surveillance footage captured Wright running out of the duplex “with blood gushing from his neck” before collapsing outside.
Investigators also interviewed family members. Wright’s mother told officers that when she came home, she found her son bleeding in the kitchen while Hall stood nearby holding a knife with a 6- to 8-inch blade, allegedly saying, “I’m going to cut you.”
Wright’s girlfriend corroborated the long-standing tension between the two, telling police it was “common” for Hall to threaten her cousin. She recalled Hall asking Wright for the number of his Taco Bell manager earlier that day so she could apply for a job. The girlfriend said Hall grew angry when Wright refused and later heard her threaten, “I’m going to stab you, I’m going to kill you,” while laughing. Moments later, she saw Hall swinging her fists — then saw “blood all over the walls” of Hall’s room.
Hall was taken into custody and has since been charged with reckless homicide, domestic abuse, and use of a dangerous weapon. She is being held on a $100,000 bond, with her next court appearance scheduled for October 14.
The case has left family members and the community devastated — a senseless act of violence that took place within the same home, over what police described as a “trivial argument.”
