Greene County, Arkansas – With a heavy heart, the communities of Paragould and Jonesboro mourn the tragic loss of Sherry Felty, 52, of Paragould, and Duane Smith Jr., 40, and Christine Sta Ana, 31, both of Jonesboro, who lost their lives in a devastating crash on Friday, October 17, 2025, on U.S. 412 in Greene County. Families, friends, and neighbors are reeling from the profound loss of three cherished community members.

According to the Arkansas State Police (ASP), the crash occurred Friday afternoon when Bruce Owens, 49, of Paragould, was driving a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe westbound behind a 2025 Freightliner. Attempting to pass the truck, the Hyundai crossed the center turn lane and collided head-on with an eastbound 2020 Jeep Renegade.

Tragically, Sherry Felty, a passenger in the Hyundai, and Duane Smith Jr. and Christine Sta Ana, occupants of the Jeep, were pronounced dead at the scene. Owens and a juvenile passenger in the Jeep sustained injuries and were treated by first responders.

Sherry Felty was remembered as a warm, compassionate presence in Paragould, devoted to her family and community. Duane Smith Jr., a respected figure in Jonesboro, was admired for his kindness, generosity, and positive influence on those around him. Christine Sta Ana, also of Jonesboro, was celebrated for her vibrant spirit, friendliness, and ability to bring joy to everyone she encountered. Their untimely deaths have left a void that will be deeply felt across both communities.

In the wake of the tragedy, local residents have shared heartfelt condolences, social media tributes, and personal memories of the three victims. Prayer gatherings and vigils have been held to honor their lives and provide support to grieving families.
