PLYMOUTH, MA  — It is with heavy hearts that the Plymouth community mourns the loss of Matthew Wilson, an 18-year-old whose life was tragically cut short in a devastating head-on collision Friday evening on State Road.

According to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, officers responded to a crash near 129 State Road, where they discovered two heavily damaged vehicles — a Honda Civic and a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The driver of the Honda, identified as Matthew Wilson of Plymouth, was found unresponsive. Despite emergency efforts, he was later pronounced deceased at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Plymouth.

A 16-year-old passenger in the Honda and the female driver of the Jeep were transported to South Shore Hospital with injuries. Authorities said the incident appeared to be a head-on collision, though the cause of the crash remains under investigation by local and state police.

Matthew’s passing has left an ache in the hearts of all who knew him. Friends and family remember him as a kind, caring, and determined young man with a bright future ahead. His presence was a source of light to those around him — a person who lifted others up and made them feel seen.

“Matthew was more than a friend — he was family to so many of us,” one classmate shared. “His smile could change your day. It’s hard to believe he’s gone.”

As the investigation continues, the Plymouth community has come together in grief and remembrance. Vigils and online tributes have filled social media feeds, with friends sharing photos, stories, and heartfelt messages of love and loss.

Though his life ended far too soon, Matthew Wilson’s legacy of kindness, laughter, and compassion will continue to live on in the memories of everyone he touched. His family, friends, and community are holding tightly to those memories — the laughter, the late-night talks, the dreams he carried — as they try to come to terms with this unimaginable tragedy.

May his loved ones find comfort in knowing that Matthew’s spirit lives on through the countless lives he brightened.

Rest in Peace, Matthew Wilson, 18.
Gone too soon, but forever remembered.
