CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — The Chesterfield community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Firefighter Sammy Ershidat, a beloved member of the Chesterfield County Fire and EMS Department, who tragically passed away Friday afternoon following a vehicle collision while off duty.
Firefighter Ershidat served with pride and dedication at Fire Station 11, Engine 211 “C” Shift on Iron Bridge Road. A nearly two-year veteran of the department, he graduated from Recruit School 68 in 2024 and quickly earned a reputation for his professionalism, compassion, and unwavering commitment to helping others.
In a statement, Chesterfield Fire and EMS expressed the department’s collective grief and respect for one of their own:
“We are all deeply saddened by the loss of Firefighter Sammy Ershidat, who was taken from us just as his career as a firefighter had begun. He proudly served the residents of Dale while assigned to one of the busiest stations in Chesterfield County,” said Fire Chief Edward L.
