CHICAGO — A tragic incident in the Little Village neighborhood on Saturday evening has left the community in mourning after two men, ages 63 and 25, were found deceased following an armed robbery at a jewelry store on the 3800 block of West 26th Street.
According to the Chicago Police Department, the suspect entered the store around 5:49 p.m., carried out a robbery, and then became involved in an altercation with employees outside the business. During the confrontation, multiple gunshots were fired.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered both men unresponsive outside the store. Emergency crews transported them to Mount Sinai Hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased. Their identities have not been released, pending notification of family members.
Authorities say the suspect fled the scene in a white SUV. Detectives are now reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and gathering witness statements as part of the ongoing investigation.
The Little Village community, known for its close-knit families and local businesses, has been deeply shaken by the tragedy. Residents gathered near the storefront on Sunday, leaving candles and flowers in memory of the victims.
“It’s heartbreaking,” said one neighbor. “Everyone here works hard to build something for their families. We’re praying for peace and justice.”
Investigators with the Area Four Bureau of Detectives are leading the case. Police are urging anyone with information to contact the Chicago Police Department or submit an anonymous tip through the CPD tip line.
As Little Village mourns this devastating loss, community leaders are calling for unity and continued efforts to ensure safety for all residents and business owners.
