JEFFERSON COUNTY, Arkansas — Authorities in Jefferson County are investigating a deadly incident inside the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Adult Detention Center that left two detainees deceased and four others facing capital murder charges.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Darrion Williams, 24, and Jonathan Danard Harris, 22, were found inside the detention facility suffering from stab wounds following a violent altercation on Saturday morning. Despite efforts by correctional staff and medical responders, both men were pronounced deceased at the scene.
After a swift investigation, four inmates were identified and charged in connection with the fatal attack. The suspects — Darnell Ford, 24; Terencio Wyrick, 25; Kamaren Wainwright, 24; and Kedrick Love, 21 — were already in custody on unrelated charges at the time of the incident. Each now faces Capital Murder (Class Y Felony) and Use of a Weapon by an Incarcerated Person (Class D Felony).
The four men are scheduled to be arraigned Monday, November 10, 2025.
In a statement released Saturday evening, Jefferson County Sheriff Lafayette Woods, Jr. called the event “a tragic day” for both the community and the families affected:
“This has been a tragic day for the families affected and for our community. Our investigators moved quickly to identify the individuals believed to be responsible, and we will continue working with prosecutors to pursue justice. We remain committed to the safety and security of everyone within our facility.”
Following the incident, the detention center was placed under full lockdown as investigators continued processing the scene, collecting evidence, and interviewing witnesses.
The Sheriff’s Office says the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is leading the inquiry and working closely with prosecutors to determine what led to the fatal altercation.
No additional details have been released regarding the motive, but officials confirmed that the investigation remains active and ongoing.
The fatal incident marks one of the most serious acts of violence reported at the W.C. “Dub” Brassell facility in recent years, raising renewed attention to the challenges of inmate safety and management inside correctional institutions.
