Birmingham, Alabama — The Birmingham community is mourning the loss of 18-year-old Myca Clark Jr., of McCalla, who passed away following a tragic shooting in Ensley on Saturday afternoon, November 8, 2025.

According to the Birmingham Police Department, officers from the West Precinct were dispatched around 3:15 p.m. after receiving a ShotSpotter alert indicating gunfire in the 2600 block of Avenue K, near Ensley Park.

While on their way to the scene, officers encountered a vehicle at Fire Station #16, located at 2001 Avenue I, carrying two men who had both suffered gunshot wounds. First responders immediately provided medical assistance. One victim was treated on site, while Myca was rushed to UAB Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities say the preliminary investigation suggests that Myca and the second victim had met with another group of men at Ensley Park for reasons still under investigation. During that encounter, an individual opened fire, striking both victims before fleeing the scene on foot with several others.

Police detectives spoke with members of the community, one of whom provided crucial information that led officers to a nearby residence. There, a suspect was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Birmingham City Jail as the investigation continues.

“This is an unimaginable loss for the family and for our community,” said a spokesperson for the Birmingham Police Department. “We’re grateful for the cooperation that helped bring a suspect into custody and remain committed to seeking justice for the victim.”

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed the victim’s identity as Myca Clark Jr., describing him as a young man whose life was tragically cut short far too soon.

Family, friends, and community members have expressed their heartbreak, remembering Myca as a kind-hearted and vibrant young man with a bright future ahead. Tributes and messages of condolence have begun to pour in across social media as loved ones reflect on his memory.

Authorities urge anyone with additional information to contact Birmingham Police Homicide Detectives at (205) 254-1764 or reach out anonymously through Crime Stoppers at (205) 254-7777.

As the investigation continues, the community of Birmingham and McCalla stands united in grief — honoring the memory of Myca Clark Jr. and calling for peace in the wake of yet another senseless act of violence.

May Myca rest in eternal peace, and may his family find comfort in the love and support surrounding them during this difficult time.
