Early on Sunday morning, 25-year-old Augustus Javin was shot and killed in the Cowboys bar parking lot.
Authorities stated a 34-year-old male from Port Arthur, Texas is being held in relation to a shooting death that took place in the parking lot of a nearby club early on Sunday morning.
Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Kayla Vincent said that at approximately 5 a.m. on Sunday, March 9, deputies from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of shooting at Cowboys, a bar on Common Street.
When deputies arrived, they found that Augustus Javin, 25, had been shot.
Authorities say a man from Port Arthur, Texas, is being held in relation to the shooting that occurred early this morning in the parking lot of a nearby club and resulted in the death of one man.
According to Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kayla Vincent, deputies responded to a fatal shooting at Cowboys on Common Street around 5 a.m. on Sunday, March 9.
When deputies arrived, they discovered Augustus Javin, 25, who had suffered gunshot wounds.
According to Vincent, detectives discovered that Fabian D. Charles, 34, discharged a pistol during a physical confrontation and struck one person.
The person was brought to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead.
Charles was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center with the following charges:
Second-degree murder
Discharging a firearm during a violent crime constitutes illegal weapon use.
Obstruction of justice.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
