Tragedy Strikes at Sage Park: Former Vigor High Basketball Star Francisca Crage Fatally Shot During Game, Leaving Community in Shock and Mourning

 

MOBILE, ALABAMA — A community is in mourning after a tragic shooting at Sage Park claimed the life of 25-year-old Francisca Crage, a former basketball standout from Vigor High School and Coastal Alabama Community College.

A Promising Life Cut Short

On April 17, 2025, during a recreational basketball game at Sage Park, a gunshot rang out, striking Crage mid-game. Witnesses reported a sudden loud bang followed by screams as Crage collapsed on the court. Despite immediate efforts by paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Crage was a celebrated athlete, known for her exceptional skills on the basketball court. She graduated from Vigor High School in 2015, where she led her team to multiple victories, and later played for Coastal Alabama Community College, earning accolades for her performance.

Investigation Underway

The shooter fled the scene immediately after the incident. Law enforcement agencies are actively investigating the case, seeking any information that could lead to the apprehension of the suspect. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
