Tragedy at Woodlawn Lake: Kevin Clint Frago Remembered After Taking His Own Life, Family Calls for Greater Awareness Around Mental Health Struggles
SAN ANTONIO, TX (April 18, 2025) — The family of Kevin Clint Frago is mourning his heartbreaking death this week after he tragically took his own life at Woodlawn Lake. Described by his loved ones as a kind, caring, and deeply sensitive soul, Kevin’s passing has sent waves of grief through his family and the San Antonio community — and sparked an urgent call for greater attention to mental health and the unseen battles many face.
According to San Antonio police, the incident occurred on Monday, April 14, when a man jumped into the waters at Woodlawn Lake and never resurfaced. That man was later identified as 33-year-old Kevin Clint Frago. Emergency responders attempted to rescue him, but tragically, Kevin could not be saved.
Now, his family is speaking out.
Kevin’s sister, Princess Frago, said that his death was not an accident but the culmination of years of emotional turmoil and mental struggles that took root in an abusive upbringing. She shared her brother’s story with the hope of turning pain into purpose — and encouraging others to look more closely at the silent suffering around them.
“He was struggling with himself,” Princess said through tears. “He didn’t know who to trust. He felt that anything and everyone was after him. But at his core, Kevin was gentle. He was generous. He would sit in the park and feed the homeless. He would babysit for me when I needed help.”
Kevin’s life was marked by both deep lows and moments of hope. In 2020, after facing severe personal struggles, he found a renewed sense of purpose and faith.
“He told me, ‘I gave my life to Jesus, I got saved at Haven for Hope,’” Princess recalled. “I was excited and happy. I thought this time he would be okay.”
But mental health challenges often linger even after turning points. Princess now believes Kevin’s final decision came from a place of overwhelming inner pain — fueled by voices of self-doubt and fear that became too much to bear.
“He listened to the lies of the enemy and the darkness,” she said. “And he allowed that to bring himself down.”
While Kevin’s life ended far too soon, his family wants his story to make a difference. Princess is urging people to check in with loved ones, especially those who seem to withdraw or show signs of emotional distress.
“Don’t give up on your loved ones,” she said. “Even if they try to shut you out — keep trying. You never know when they might reach that breaking point. Sometimes people threaten to take their life and don’t. But what if one day they don’t say anything at all — and they just do it?”
To help cover funeral expenses, Princess has created a GoFundMe campaign in Kevin’s honor. Donations will support his family as they prepare to lay him to rest and celebrate the life he lived.
