GREEK NURSE SENTENCED TO THREE LIFE TERMS FOR HEINOUS MURDER OF HER THREE DAUGHTERS
In a harrowing and disturbing conclusion to a case that has captivated the nation, a Greek nurse has been sentenced to three life terms in prison for the brutal and premeditated murder of her three young daughters.
Roula Pispirigou, a 36-year-old nurse, was found guilty of suffocating her infant daughters, Malena and Irida, in 2019 and 2021, respectively. The court also convicted her of poisoning her nine-year-old daughter, Georgina, with ketamine in January 2022.
A thorough investigation into Georgina’s death led authorities to re-examine the deaths of Malena and Irida, which were initially ruled as natural. However, further investigation revealed the shocking truth: the two infants had been asphyxiated by their own mother.
The court in Athens handed down the maximum sentence, citing the premeditated and calculated nature of Pispirigou’s crimes. The prosecutor argued that Pispirigou’s actions were driven by an obsessive desire to keep her husband close, highlighting the disturbing motivations behind her heinous actions.
Pispirigou maintains her innocence, despite the overwhelming evidence against her. She is expected to appeal the sentence, but for now, justice has been served.
The case has sent shockwaves throughout Greece, sparking widespread outrage and condemnation. The nation is still reeling from the horror of this crime, and the memory of these three innocent lives lost will not be forgotten.
