Suspect on the Run: Authorities Search for Tyren Ivey in Fatal Shooting of Evan Neal

Law enforcement officials in Somerset County have launched an intensive manhunt for Tyren Lee Ivey, who has been identified as a suspect in the homicide of Evan Neal, a 27-year-old local resident whose tragic death has left the community in mourning.

The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with Maryland State Police and several regional law enforcement agencies, confirmed late Friday that a warrant has been issued for Ivey’s arrest on charges of first-degree murder, assault, and related offenses stemming from the fatal incident earlier this week.

According to investigators, authorities were dispatched to a residence on the outskirts of Princess Anne, Maryland, around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday night following multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots and a disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies found Evan Neal suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts by emergency medical personnel, Neal was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation quickly identified Tyren Lee Ivey, 29, as the prime suspect. Witnesses at the scene alleged that an argument had erupted between Neal and Ivey earlier in the evening, escalating into violence. While the exact nature of the dispute remains under investigation, officials stated that it appeared to be personal in nature rather than random.

Following the shooting, Ivey reportedly fled the scene on foot before possibly entering a vehicle and leaving the area. Law enforcement agencies have since been actively searching for him and have warned the public that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

“Tyren Ivey is a danger to the public, and we are asking anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts to come forward,” said Somerset County Sheriff Ronnie Howard during a press briefing on Friday afternoon. “We urge citizens not to approach him but to call 911 immediately if he is seen.”

The sheriff’s office released a wanted poster featuring Ivey’s photograph and a physical description. Ivey is described as a Black male, approximately 6 feet tall, weighing around 190 pounds, with tattoos on both arms. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored hoodie and jeans.

Law enforcement officials believe that Ivey may still be in the Eastern Shore area but are not ruling out the possibility that he could have fled to neighboring jurisdictions or out of state. The U.S. Marshals Service has been enlisted to assist in the search, and a reward for information leading to Ivey’s arrest has been announced.

Meanwhile, the family and friends of Evan Neal are reeling from the loss of a young man many described as kind-hearted, hardworking, and deeply rooted in the Somerset County community. Neal was known for his volunteer work with local youth programs and his involvement with his church.

“Evan had such a bright future ahead of him,” said Pastor Lawrence Jenkins of Neal’s church. “He had a passion for helping others and making a difference. It’s devastating that his life was taken so senselessly.”

Community leaders have also expressed outrage and sadness over the violence, calling for unity and support as the investigation continues.

“Our community is hurting right now,” said Somerset County Council member Denise Holloway. “We must come together, not only to bring the suspect to justice but also to support Evan’s family and all who loved him.”

Investigators continue to interview witnesses and are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and residences in hopes of piecing together Ivey’s movements before and after the shooting.
