BATON ROUGE, La. — Deadly Dispute Outside Amazon Facility: Night Shift Break Turns Tragic as Employee Fatally Shot Following Argument

The Amazon Fulfillment Center on Cortana Place in Baton Rouge was the scene of a deadly shooting late Monday night, April 28, 2025, after an altercation between two employees escalated to gunfire. The incident has left the community shaken, workers traumatized, and the victim’s family grieving the sudden loss of a loved one.

According to multiple sources and reporting by WBRZ, the violence erupted shortly after the start of the night shift break at 11:00 p.m. The shooting occurred at approximately 11:15 p.m., just outside the facility’s main entrance.

Family members confirmed that Dylan Anthony, an Amazon employee, was the victim killed during the tragic encounter. Sources revealed that the shooting stemmed from a personal dispute between two coworkers, though the precise details and motive are still under active investigation.

As soon as the shots rang out, chaos followed. Amazon managers reportedly instructed employees to evacuate immediately, urging them to flee for their safety. “We just heard the gunshots and they told us to run,” said one employee who asked not to be named, citing fear and trauma. “Nobody knew what was happening, just that we had to get away fast.”

Baton Rouge Police Department officers and East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene within minutes of the 911 call. Law enforcement quickly secured the facility and began a preliminary investigation. No one other than emergency personnel was permitted entry after midnight.

Dozens of employees, visibly shaken, waited for hours to retrieve their vehicles from the parking lot. Many stood together in disbelief, comforting one another. It wasn’t until after 1 a.m. that employees were allowed back onto the premises to collect their belongings. The facility remained closed into the early morning hours of Tuesday.

By 2:30 a.m., the sprawling fulfillment center—usually buzzing with activity—was eerily silent, with its operations temporarily suspended as investigators processed the crime scene.

Amazon has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident. It remains unclear if the company will take further safety measures or revise its policies in response to the shooting.

The identity of the suspected shooter has not yet been released by authorities. As of Tuesday morning, police had not confirmed whether an arrest had been made.

The Baton Rouge Police Department is leading the investigation. Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact BRPD or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.

As this tragedy continues to unfold, the family of Dylan Anthony is asking for privacy while they mourn. Friends and coworkers describe him as kind-hearted, hardworking, and deeply loved by those around him.
