Tragedy in Minneapolis: Three Killed, Including Beloved Community Member Evan “Eday” Denny, and Two Injured in Late-Night Shooting Near 25th and Bloomington

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — A community is in mourning following a deadly late-night shooting that erupted near 25th Street and Bloomington Avenue in Minneapolis on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. According to law enforcement officials and local media reports, five individuals were shot shortly before midnight in what authorities are calling one of the city’s most devastating acts of violence in recent months.

Among the three people who tragically lost their lives was Evan Denny, known to many as Ramone Day or by his nickname “Eday.” Friends and family described him as a beloved and passionate figure in the community, someone who brought light into every room he entered. His death, along with those of two other victims who have not yet been publicly identified, has sent shockwaves throughout the city.

Emergency responders arrived swiftly on the scene after multiple 911 calls reported gunfire in the neighborhood. Two additional individuals were transported to nearby hospitals. One remains in critical condition, fighting for their life, while the other is being treated for injuries deemed non-life-threatening.

Witnesses reported hearing a barrage of gunshots that pierced the night, followed by the sound of screeching tires and chaotic screams. “It sounded like a war zone for a few seconds,” said a local resident who lives just a block away. “Then we saw people running and calling for help. It was terrifying.”

The Minneapolis Police Department has launched an active investigation into the shooting. As of Wednesday morning, no arrests have been made, and the motive behind the attack remains unclear. Detectives are currently reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and interviewing potential witnesses in hopes of identifying the perpetrator or perpetrators.

Community members gathered Wednesday afternoon at the site of the shooting to hold a vigil in honor of the lives lost. Dozens brought candles, flowers, and hand-written messages, creating a makeshift memorial under the shadow of a neighborhood shaken by violence.

“This is not who we are,” said a community activist who helped organize the vigil. “We cannot let gun violence define our streets or rob us of our sons and daughters. Evan—Eday—meant something to all of us. We must remember him, and we must act.”

City officials and local leaders are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation. Tipsters can contact CrimeStoppers or the Minneapolis Police Department directly and may remain anonymous.

As the city processes yet another tragic act of violence, many are calling for renewed efforts to address gun violence, increase community resources, and build stronger neighborhood ties to prevent further loss of life.

A memorial service for Evan Denny is expected to be announced by his family in the coming days. Community support efforts, including fundraisers and grief counseling, are also being organized for those affected.

Updates will follow as more information becomes available.
