Remembering Laurin Bell: Former “Jeopardy!” Contestant and Duquesne Alumna Passes Away at 41

 

The community of Lakeland, Florida, is mourning the loss of Laurin Bell, a distinguished alumna of Duquesne University and former “Jeopardy!” contestant, who passed away on March 23, 2025, at the age of 41. Laurin was celebrated for her intellectual prowess, sharp wit, and engaging personality, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Laurin’s appearance on “Jeopardy!” on February 14, 2023, showcased her exceptional knowledge and quick thinking, earning her admiration from viewers and fellow contestants alike. Her participation in the show’s 39th season highlighted her as a formidable competitor and endeared her to many fans.

Tragically, Laurin’s life concluded by suicide, as confirmed by the Florida Medical Examiner’s Office. An autopsy has been performed, with toxicology results pending. Hn addition to her human connections, Laurin was a devoted pet owner. Following her passing, her beloved 14-year-old dog, Kinley, was taken to a local shelter in Polk County, Florida, and is currently seeking a new home. Kinley is described as friendly with people and cats but not good with other dogs.
